Arizona State Senate District 2
Jeanne Casteen is a parent, educator, and former school board president. As a middle school and high school teacher, Jeanne has seen firsthand how policies at the state level have created a two-tier education system that hurt entire communities. She knew she could do more for her students from the board room, and in 2012 joined her local school board. She served for eight years, and was president for four years.
In 2020, Jeanne was the democratic nominee for Maricopa County School Superintendent, and came within .6% of winning. She now heads a nonprofit advocacy organization that focuses on discriminatory legislation coming from the Arizona legislature. She has two adult children who were born and raised in Arizona, and Jeanne is running for State Senate so that they and their children will have access to an excellent public education and to fair wages and affordable housing.
