Barb Anness, Michigan House District 45
2020 Race Update: Barb lost 47.65% to 52.35%
Barb Anness is a 23-year resident of Rochester Hills, Michigan where she and her spouse, Tim, raised their two children. She earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Graphic Design, graduating cum laude from the College of Design, Architecture, Art and Planning at the University of Cincinnati. Barb’s path toward leadership began when her two children entered public school at Meadow Brook Elementary in the Rochester Community Schools district. PTA leadership positions as president, vice president, and chair of the PTA Council legislative committee led to a two-year seat on the Michigan PTA Board of Directors, where she currently serves as the federal legislative chair. Barb also serves as secretary for the Rochester Community Schools (RCS) Board of Education, overseeing a general fund budget of $182 million, a student body of 15,000, and, as the largest employer in the greater Rochester area, a staff of 1,500. Barb currently works as a graphic designer and is a local small business owner.
