2020 Race Update: Gail lost 48.74% to 51.26%
Gail Young’s decision to run for the North Carolina House came after spending nearly three decades in local government. Working her way up from a safety officer to retiring as a Division Director in Land Use and Environmental Services Agency within Mecklenburg County Government, her responsibilities included ensuring compliance for Agency Heads’ budgeting and financial reporting.
Born and raised in the mountains of North Carolina, Gail’s commitment to North Carolina runs deep. She attended the University of North Carolina Charlotte and earned her master’s degree from the University of Arkansas before returning home. She began her career working in higher education at the University of North Carolina Wilmington for two years and then spent the majority of her career working for Mecklenburg County. Today, Gail calls Concord home.
