2020 Race Update: Janet lost 44.40% to 55.60%
Janet Diaz is the Democratic nominee for the 13th Pennsylvania State Senate District in Lancaster County, Pennsylvania. If elected, she would be the first Latina to serve in the Pennsylvania State Senate.
Janet knows the struggles many families in Lancaster County face because she lived it. Janet overcame poverty and homeless and built a successful career in health care. She currently works as a medical analyst for Lancaster General Health.
In 2017, Janet was elected to the Lancaster City Council and made history as the first Latina to be elected to city council. She chairs the Personnel Committee and is a member of the Public Works and Finance Committees. She is a member of the PA Dems Latino Caucus, NALEO Education Fund, The National Federation of Democratic Women, Farmers Union, and the Pennsylvania Municipal League.
Janet is a graduate of J.P. McCaskey High School, Thompson Institute, Lancaster Bible College, and the Citizens’ Police Academy of Lancaster City.
