John Kane

Pennsylvania State Senate District 9

2020 Race Update: John won 52.00% to 48.00%

John Kane is a father, husband, plumber, local Labor leader, and recent cancer survivor. John grew up in Delaware County and knew from an early age that college wasn’t for him. He learned a trade as a plumber, and joined Plumbers Local 690. After years of struggling to maintain work and make ends meet, John began to rise through the ranks of his union, where he was eventually elected business manager of the largest plumbers union in PA in 2007 and maintains that position today.

At the young age of 22, John sought treatment for alcohol addiction and proudly has 36 years of sobriety. He currently sits as a Board Member of the Livengrin Foundation which provides addiction treatment in Southeastern PA. In May 2015, John was diagnosed with stage 3 cancer. Thanks to the incredible doctors, nurses, hospital staff, and insurance provided by his union, he can proudly say he is five years cancer free.

John wants to bring his story to Harrisburg and fight for everyone else in similar situations.
