2020 Race Update: Pam lost 37.70% to 59.34%
Pam Egli will work in the Iowa Senate for the people of Eastern Iowa.
Pam understands the importance of helping small Iowa communities find new ways to thrive. Ensuring all Iowans have access to high quality health care by funding regional medical centers and community hospitals is a priority in Pam’s work. Investing in broadband to enhance economic development for businesses, local farmers, and education is crucial for rural Iowa. Pam will work with Iowa farmers to promote Iowa’s crops and byproducts in the global marketplace.
Working with her Senate colleagues and experts in the field, Pam will strive to secure funding for research, conducted in Iowa, to see that Iowa’s corn and soybeans are utilized in new, innovative ways in order to provide stability and economic growth to farmers.
In her 33-year career as a teacher, Pam worked with students and families to ensure each child’s success. Earning her undergraduate degree from Wartburg College and her Master’s from the University of Northern Iowa, Pam is the product of an Iowa education. She was a master educator in the Waverly-Shell Rock school district, earning National Board Certification. During her tenure Pam was also a proud union leader, serving as president of the local teacher’s association and chief contract negotiator. Pam taught when Iowa’s schools were ranked first in the nation and will seek to re-establish Iowa as a leader in education.
Still an active substitute teacher since retirement, Pam understands the challenges facing Iowa’s children and families. As an advocate for children, Pam will work to ensure adequate mental health care within schools and statewide.
Pam has been married to her husband Steve, an attorney and former magistrate, for over 30 years. Together they are the parents of two sons, Nate and Macen, and grandparents to five grandchildren. With many of Pam’s family living and working in the state, assuring a strong future for Iowa is essential.
As a champion for eastern Iowa families and communities, Pam is down to earth and easy to reach. She enjoys listening and talking with residents about their ideas and concerns. Building relationships with people is a strength. While Pam is a strong, Democratic voice, she will forge bonds on both sides of the aisle to accomplish what is needed to move Iowa forward. Pam is ready to push through party lines and put state government to work for the people.
