Patty Smith has worked extensively in local and state government management. She has worked in the private and non-profit sectors, as well as having been a small business owner. She is a Certified Public Manager from Millersville University and has extensive experience managing multi-million-dollar government budgets and projects.

She volunteers her time in the community promoting sensible development, adequate infrastructure, smart land use, traffic solutions, and animal rescue with the Lion’s Club. She works with Rock the Capital fighting and exposing government corruption and waste on the state and local levels. Patty started a local community organization called the STAR Association (Susquehanna Township Area Residents), which is designed to allow residents of the Township to be more involved in their local government and to ensure that their voices are being heard and considered with every decision the Township Commissioners make.

Patty also created Rescued For Service, a program that takes dogs out of shelters and rescues and trains them to be PTSD service dogs for veterans. She has been married for more than 19 years to her husband, Brad, who is an avid hunter and sportsman. Together they love to travel, scuba dive, and enjoy the outdoors with their two dogs Baxter and Bailey. Patty is a life-long resident of Dauphin County where her family still owns and operates a local business that her grandfather started in 1956.
